Boria Bisso 2023, Chardonnay, Haute Vallée de l'Orb, La Billiere, 14%
Bright light straw gold.
Sweet hay, grain and yellow fruits, ample and articulate but unfussy, pure, strong-shouldered.
Warm, tender and full on the palate, with ample soft, round fruit. Not a 'screaming varietal' in any way, though; more a message from the hill. Sappy, soft, fine food wine, secondary and vinous, grown-up and gastronomic. Although both nose and palate give the impression of sweetness, there is nothing actually sweet here ... better seen as a tenderness. Not bitter but sappy and structured on the finish. Lives up to the Haute Vallee billing and the lovely packaging (though no fennel tones!).
